The painting “Spring” (Le Printemps or Jeanne) is a work by the French painter Édouard Manet, created in 1881.
The painting depicts the approximately sixteen-year-old Jeanne Demarsy as a half-length figure in profile against a floral background. Manet compared her to a living flower.
Manet exhibited “Spring” at the Salon de Paris in 1882, where it received positive reviews. The painting is now part of the collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and achieved the highest price ever paid for a Manet work at an auction in 2014.
